Re “How Much Nature Is Enough? 120 Minutes a Week, Doctors Say” (Health, nytimes.com, June 13):
Now scientists have announced that spending 120 minutes outdoors each week is the optimal amount for benefiting from it. If we want to know how nature affects us, how about going outside, living the experience and noticing our response?
A society that needs researchers to answer this question — or the ever-popular questions of how much water, protein, exercise or sleep we need — is a society alienated from the rhythms of life and thus from nature.
And a better question would be how much time we need to spend outdoors to benefit nature.
