Man charged with murder over stabbing of mother Charlotte Huggins on New Year's Day

The 33-year-old was stabbed to death at an address in Camberwell in the southeast of the capital in the early hours of 1 January.

Scotland Yard said Michael Rolle, 34, of Pentworth House, Dulwich, has been charged with her murder and will appear at Camberwell Green Magistrates’ Court later.

A second man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released under investigation, the Metropolitan Police said.

Paramedics were called to an address in John Ruskin Street at about 4.20am, but Ms Huggins was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem showed she had suffered a single stab wound.

Friends paid tribute on her Facebook page, describing her as “one of the truly decent people” and “a lovely, bubbly, happy, beautiful girl with a pure soul”.
