‘Please don’t kill me’ Conor McGregor pleaded for life during fight – Khabib claims

“He begged me: ‘please don’t kill me’”

Khabib Nurmagomedov

The cocky Irishman was forced to throw in the towel after he was caught in a headlock by the Russian in October.

But, since losing UFC 229 in Las Vegas, McGregor has continued to taunt Khabib and appeared to demand a rematch.

One of his most controversial insults was branded racist when he said of Khabib’s wife – who was pictured wearing a full Islamic face veil – that she was a “towel”.

Now, Khabib, 30, has taken a scathing swipe at McGregor, also 30, claiming he begged for his life during the fight.

He said: “He tapped. He begged me: ‘please don’t kill me.’

“Now we are talking about a rematch?”

He appeared to suggest the way McGregor quit the match was his main reason for prioritising other fighters.

Khabib spoke of his ideal opponents, adding: “People who have a win streak over the line.

“Not the guy who has done nothing for the last three years.”

Conor has not responded to Khabib’s claims on Twitter but did retweet a post where he was named on Fobes list of highest-paid athletes for a fourth year.

Meanwhile, Khabib is preparing for his return to the ring in September.

The Russian will be aiming to retain his lightweight title against Dustin Poirier at UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi.
