This is the horrific, blood-soaked mugshot of a killing driver sentenced to 30 years jail for running a red light and murdering another driver. Jaime Bautista-Sanchez, 29, was pictured caked in dry blood and wearing a neck brace shortly after the January 2019 crash, which saw him jailed until 2050 on Tuesday.
Bautista-Sanchez, of Denver in Colorado, ran a red in downtown Denver while doing 90mph. He slammed into a car being driven by 28 year-old Ethan Small, flipping Small’s car and killing him. Afterwards, Bautista-Sanchez was found to be more than twice the drink-drive limit.
He also tested positive for THC – the active ingredient in marijuana – as well as cocaine and psychoactive benzos. Bautista-Sanchez admitted second-degree mruder, first-degree assault, vehicular homicide and driving under the influence at a court hearing last month.
Prosecutor Beth McCann told KDVR: ‘My hope is that this sentence brings Mr. Small’s family some peace in what has surely been a dark time for them.’
Small is survived by his parents Howard and Polliana, and sister Rachel.
Bautista-Sanchez is a serial criminal previously convicted of attempted first-degree murder and drink driving, with further details of that case yet to emerge.
He has also been cited multiple times for traffic infractions prior to the 2019 death smash.
