An elderly golden retriever with terminal cancer was found dumped in a Walmart parking lot. The dog, now named Theo, was rescued outside the store in Crystal Lake, Chicago, by a couple called Jenny and Scott.
Sadly, after bringing her to a local shelter, they found out that Theo, who is around 12, has no more than a few weeks left to live because of the disease. Jenny and Scott have since put Theo in hospice care – and also devised a bucket list to try and make her final few weeks as enjoyable as possible.
Theo has already enjoyed a trip through a restaurant drive-thru, which saw him snack on a hamburger and ice cream cone. The gentle dog has also escaped the fierce summer heat with a cooling swim in a pool.
Jenny and Scott have three other wishes for Theo that they think he’ll enjoy – a trip to a fire station, a ride on a boat, and a play date with another dog.
They have asked CBS2 for help, and say Theo was also excited to make his TV debut on a news report detailing his plight.
