Two young sisters aged one and five were found wandering alone on a freezing street late at night, with police now trying to find their parents.
The five year-old, believed to be named Kamariya, and her one year-old sister, who police say is called Chantel, were spotted in Chicago’s South Shore neighborhood around 10:30pm Sunday night. Officers do not know the youngsters’ surnames, with temperatures dipping to zero celsius (32f) around the time they were discovered.
Police say Kamariya is three feet, six inches tall and weighs 48 pounds, while her younger sister stands two feet tall and weighs 22 pounds.
The girls were spotted by a concerned passer-by, and taken to the Windy City’s Comer Children’s Hospital. Both are said to be in good condition. Social workers have been called in to care for the youngsters.
Police have yet to say why they believe the girls were out on the street alone, and whether they have made contact with their parents, or what they believed them to have been doing at the time, Fox8 reported.
