The 9/11 terrorist attacks forever changed the lives of New Yorkers, and along with that, the face of the Manhattan skyline.
Before the worst terror attack in US soil on September 11, 2001, the Lower Manhattan skyline was defined by the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers.
The North Tower was taken down by hijacked Flight 11, and the South Tower collapsed after being hit by hijacked Flight 175.
The new World Trade Center One, first called the Freedom Tower, was completed in 2014.
Two decades later, despite the gleaming Freedom Tower and new developments in place of dust and rubble, Americans will never forget the Manhattan skyline before 9/11.
