More than 50% of Americans fully vaccinated as 10 states reach Joe Biden's goal

President Joe Biden kicked off Memorial Day weekend by announcing that 51% of American adults are fully vaccinated and that his July 4 goal is within reach.

‘Now 51% of America adults have been fully vaccinated, 75% of seniors are fully vaccinated, leaving nobody behind,’ said Biden from Alexandria, Virginia. ‘Black, white, Hispanic, across the board they’ve been getting their vaccinations.’

Biden continued that he set an ambitious goal to have 70% of American adults with at least one dose by July 4 and that the nation sits at 62% on that front. Ten states have already reached the goal.

‘We still have five weeks left to hit our goal and I know we can do it,’ Biden said. ‘Just look at what we’ve done so far. There’s not a single thing… nothing we cannot accomplish if we do it together.’

On Wednesday, Pennsylvania became the tenth state to reach Biden’s goal of having at least 70% of adults with at least one dose. The other states that have made the mark are Connecticut, Hawaii, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Biden, who has continued to urge Americans to get the jab amid declining inoculation rates, also aims to have 160million adults fully vaccinated by July 4.
