Mum accused of hanging her two children and sexually assaulting family dog

A mum hanged her two young children and sexually assaulted the family dog, according to police.

It is claimed Lisa Snyder, 37, told authorities that Conner, eight, and four-year-old Brinley had threatened suicide.

But court records show Snyder had Googled "carbon monoxide in a car how long to die", "hanging yourself" and "I almost got away with i best episodes" in the weeks before the children died at the home in Reading, Pennsylvania.

She will now stand trial accused of the murders.

It is reported the mum had planned to take her own life after her arrest but a witness told a court today Snyder had confided to her of the killings.

Prosecutors say the defendant was the only adult in the house when the youngsters were found in September last year.

Detectives later discovered sexually explicit photos of Snyder having sex with the family dog, police allege.

She is claimed to have told officers she owned the black pit bull weighing 50lb, but she'd given the dog away since.

The prosecution also claim the children, particular Conner, were happy and Snyder only staged their deaths to look like suicides.

Conner and his teenage brother were taken from their mum's care by a judge in 2014, but were returned to her months later.

Local media suggest it is not clear why they were returned.

Sydner denies charges of first and third degree murder, tampering with evidence, endangering the welfare of children, and sexual intercourse with a dog.

She remains in jail without bail ahead of her trial.

The defendant could face the death penalty if found guilty.
