SINGAPORE – It has been over a year since Malaysia first went into lockdown to stem the tide of the deadly Covid-19, and the southern state of Johor is feeling the brunt of it.

The various iterations of the movement control order (MCO) and prolonged border closure with Singapore have dented economic growth in the state.
