Officers also identified more than 1,200 children and vulnerable adults who had been exploited by ruthless gang bosses and forced to act as couriers. County lines operations involve the supply of drugs from big cities to smaller towns and rural areas.

Ms Braverman said: “County lines bring violence and misery to communities across the country.

“I welcome these recent operational successes and we are continuing to support these impressive operations by providing up to £145million over the next three years.”

“I also want victims of exploitation to know there is a way out and a brighter future available, which is why we are investing up to £5million to support young people and their families caught up in these damaging rackets.”

In London, police seized £4million of drugs.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Graham McNulty said: “This is our best week ever. It’s a real achievement.”

“There is no place to hide for these violent criminals.”
