Airport terminal building ‘evacuated’ with crowds leaving after ‘incident’

Manchester Airport has been evacuated following the accidental activation of a fire panel, according to reports. Pictures show passengers evacuating terminal three as holidaymakers face long waiting times. One Twitter user shared images from the scene alongside the caption: “Terminal 3 evacuation following accidental activation of a fire panel.”

A spokesperson for Manchester Airport confirmed a member of the public had accidentally pressed one of the ‘break glass to activate’ fire alarms.

The area had to be cleared due to health and safety protocols but the area is now clear and flights are running as scheduled.

A spokesperson told “A fire alarm was accidentally activated in the security area of Terminal 3 meaning the section had to be briefly cleared. Normal service was quickly restored meaning no-one missed their flight as a result.”
