Angry tradesman tears down building work 'after not being paid'

A furious tradesman smashed up houses he had been building after claiming he hadn’t been paid.

Video footage posted on TikTok shows the worker standing on scaffolding, using a hammer to tear pieces off the side of the building while his colleagues attempt to calm him down.

It has the caption: ‘Calm down Tony.’

A man can be heard saying: ‘Tony, calm down, come here mate, what’s happening?’

Another man walks up to him on the scaffolding, trying to stop the man, thought to be called Tony, from ripping chunks out of the house.

He is heard saying, ‘I’ll sue you,’ as the other man keeps saying ‘just relax’.

Then Tony moves along to the next house and starts attacking that, too.

Another voice can be heard in the background saying, ‘Tone just leave it!’

The man who has been trying to calm him down eventually says, ‘Get the f*****g police will ya?’

A voice off camera shouts: ‘Didn’t get paid!’ as Tony continues to destroy the work, then he eventually climbs down from the scaffolding.

The person behind the camera then films piles of debris on the ground that he ripped off.

The incident took place over the summer in Edgware, north London.

Some men in the video are seen wearing hi vis vests with the name of an Essex-based building company on the back.

A spokesperson for the firm, One Sterling Limited, said their men were on site but the worker tearing down the building was a subcontractor from a different company.

Two years ago a builder was jailed for using a digger to cause up to £4 million of damage to a row of newly built retirement homes.

Daniel Neagu, 30, admitted criminal damage after five McCarthy and Stone homes worth approximately £800,000 each were wrecked in Buntingford, Hertfordshire.

He was filmed shouting ‘whoop whoop’ as he caused the destruction, following a row over unpaid wages.
