Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor has been based in the USA with his parents since their departure from the Royal Family last year. Meghan Markle, 39, and Prince Harry, 36, have closely guarded Archie’s privacy since his birth and very few photos of the young royal have been shared with the public.

Last year Meghan and Harry delighted fans by releasing a new video of Archie to mark his first birthday.

The sweet clip was filmed by Harry and showed Archie sitting on mum Meghan’s lap as they read a children’s book together.

The video was shared by UK charity Save The Children to promote a lockdown reading campaign.

Meghan and Harry are currently expecting their second child, a baby girl, who is due to be born this summer.

Last month the couple confirmed the sex of their unbold child during their interview with Oprah Winfrey, and released a new photo of themselves in March.

The adorable picture showed pregnant Meghan holding Archie in her arms as Harry stood behind her with his arms around them both.

While Archie’s face is not visible in the pictures, Sussex supporters were delighted to get a rare look into the family’s home life.

How will Archie celebrate his birthday?

Meghan, Harry and Archie have been living in Montecito, Santa Barbara since last summer and are expected to stay there long-term.

Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland lives a short drive away in Los Angeles and could join them for Archie’s big day on May 6.

The Duchess is a keen cook and is likely to prepare a special birthday meal and to bake a cake for little Archie.

During their CBS special with Oprah, Harry and Meghan gave the chat show host a tour of their home and revealed Archie’s love of animals.

The proud parents showed off their run of rescue chickens they had got for Archie and named “Archie’s chick inn.”

Asked what she most liked about their Californian life, Meghan said: “I think just being able to live authentically.

She added: “Like this kind of stuff. It’s so, it’s so basic, but it’s really fulfilling. Just getting back down to basics.”

Given Archie is a fan of animals many of his birthday presents could be animal-themed of he may even get a new pet from Meghan and Harry.

Archie was at the centre of Meghan and Harry’s message when they shared their pregnancy news with the world earlier this year.

The statement read: “We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child.”

While Meghan’s due date has not been confirmed, she is expected to give birth in June.

The Duchess was unable to join Harry on his visit to Britain for Prince Philip’s funeral as she did not receive medical clearance to fly.
