Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to mention their son Archie Harrison in their baby announcement was “huge”, according to royal commentators. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex confirmed this week that they are expecting their second child. However, Royally Obsessed podcast hosts Roberta Fiorito and Rachel Bowie noted the break from royal protocol.

Ms Fiorito told listeners: “I want to talk about the big differences between typical royal baby announcements.

“Usually there is no photograph and there’s no mention of the other children.

“I think it was huge to mention Archie.

“I thought that was really sweet.”

A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had said: “We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child.”

Misan Harriman, the photographer of their announcement picture, tweeted: “Meg, I was there at your wedding to witness this love story begin, and my friend, I am honoured to capture it grow.

“Congratulations to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex on this joyous news!”
