Armed robbers steal £100,000 cash in terrifying shop raid

Two robbers made off with around £100,000 following an armed raid on a shop.

The pair burst into an off-licence on Great Station Road in Stretford where they threatened staff before grabbing bundles of cash that were being delivered to an ATM.

One man in his 30s was injured after being struck over the head during the heist on Thursday afternoon.

So far there have been no arrests and police have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

Detective Inspector Nicola Walton said: ‘We have increased police patrols in the area to offer reassurance to our residents and we’re following all lines of enquiry to make sure these offenders are caught.

‘We’re also appealing to the public to help us identify those responsible and we’re particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have been in or around the area at the time of the incident.

‘If you have dash-cam, mobile or CCTV footage that you think could assist our investigation then please get in touch.

‘No matter how insignificant you think the information might be, it could form a vital part of the investigation.’

It is the second violent attack on a shop on the same street in as many days.

A 24-year-old man was stabbed in the Go Local store on Tuesday night. His injuries are not said to be life-threatening.
