An army bomb squad arrived on a street in Liverpool after police evacuated the area.

The Merseyside Police carried out a warrant raid at around 8:20pm on Monday evening at Netherby Street in Dingle.

Officers put a cordon in place on the street and the Merseyside Police confirmed a number of homes within the cordon have been evacuated.

The Royal Army Ordnance Corps arrived later at 10:15pm and police officers remained in the area.
