The incident took place at London’s Guy’s Hospital on Tuesday, March 21.
A man is said to have approached a woman and her baby while she was waiting for a lift.
He then touched the infant.
Detective Inspector Fiona Fraser said: ‘She had asked him to stop, which he did, and he then left the building.
‘This was clearly extremely concerning for the mother and we are trying to establish the full facts.’
The baby was not physically harmed.
