Boris Johnson breaks cover to insist he thought No 10 party was ‘work event’

Boris Johnson has insisted he believed a gathering in No 10’s garden during the first lockdown would be a ‘work event’.

The Prime Minister’s ex-chief adviser Dominic Cummings accused him of lying to Parliament, saying he would testify under oath if needed.

Mr Cummings said he told the PM to get a grip on the ‘madhouse’ when warning him over one ‘drinks party’.

Downing Street has denied the claims saying it was ‘untrue’ Mr Johnson was warned in advance about the event.

But the former aide claims the PM ‘waved it aside’ when he raised concerns over principal private secretary Martin Reynolds inviting more than 100 people to a ‘bring your own booze’ event on May 20, 2020.
