Kai Forsyth shared the plane with just cabin crew last week when he returned to Orlando, Florida, for university. He filmed the empty seats and gangway as the jet made its way across the Atlantic Ocean.
The footage, which Kai has since shared on social media, is captioned with: “The cabin crew said I was the only person onboard the flight” and a laughing emoji.
It also shows the student, from Derby, put the armrests down and get comfy with a makeshift bed across four seats for the eight-hour journey.
Kai later wrote online: “It was eight hours so I set up a bed. Literally the comfiest I’ve ever been on a plane.
“They literally gave me all the snacks and unlimited food.”
But Daily Star says Kai was unable to take a seat in Business or First Class, even though the plane was empty.
More than 170,000 people have watched the student’s clip online.
Viewers shared their jealousy.
“I remember the flight home from JFK to Gatwick, about 10 people the whole of economy. Was the best flight,” one user wrote.
Another posted: “That was me – I kept flying when Covid first ever got announced and there were no restrictions.”
The travel industry has been hugely impacted by the pandemic. Restrictions have often meant companies, like British Airways, have had to cancel flights or expect tourists to pay significant fees for Covid tests at each destination.
