The Daily Express has teamed up with Euroboozer, who yesterday took delivery of abandoned beer from the Varvar Brewery in Kyiv. At 5pm on Thursday we are calling on the nation to take a drink in solidarity and support the initiative by cheering “Budmo”, a Ukrainian toast that translates as “let us be”.

Martyn Rainton, chief of Hertfordshire-based importer Euroboozer, bought Varvar’s entire stock of 45,000 pints.

Hundreds of pubs, bars and micro venues have placed orders to take delivery of the stock at full cost, which will be rolled out before the weekend.

Martyn said: “The support so far from pubs, bars, restaurants and retailers has been overwhelming and we are delighted to have the Daily Express backing us too.”

All profits will be donated to www.drinkersforukraine.com.
