Marking International Nurses Day at the Whittington Hospital, the Duchess went gardening with staff and nurses working for Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity. Camilla is patron of the charity, supporting specialist nurses and support to seriously ill children.

During her visit to Whittington Hospital, Camilla praised the nurses working for the charity.

She said: “Whenever I have the great pleasure of meeting Roald Dahl Specialist Nurses, I am always struck by your kindness, resourcefulness and boundless energy; and never fail to be moved by the stories of the lives you have touched.

“Thank you for being marvellous.”

The Duchess was also invited to plant a Roald Dahl rose in the garden alongside the Nye Bevan, NHS rose to symbolise the close relationship between the hospital and charity.

Royal family fans praised Camilla for her appearance at Whittington Hospital, saying they “love the Duchess”

“The Duchess looked marvellous as well! So fantastic to see her beautiful radiant smile again.”

“Thank you Duchess for being present and letting these nurses know how much they are needed!”

A video from Camilla’s visit showed she and the nurses erupting into fits of laughter while planting Roald Dahl roses.

Although it is unclear what sparked the laughter but it appears it was some gardening advice from one of the women.

Another women then says: “Everyone does everything here.”

Accompanying the video of Camilla and the staff, the Clarence House Twitter page said: “In the garden of The Whittington Hospital, The Duchess of Cornwall is invited to plant the new Nye Bevan and Roald Dahl roses alongside Trust staff, to symbolise the close relationship between the hospital and charity. “

Earlier this week, Prince Charles visited hospital staff at St Bartholomew’s Hospital.

During his visit, Charles spoke to staff who treated his father once he was transferred for specialist care, which he specifically asked to do.

Speaking of the visit, professor Charles Knight, chief executive of St Barts described his pleasure at meeting the Prince.

“It meant an enormous amount to us that he came to visit and also that he met those involved in his father’s care.

“We were just so honoured to have treated his father and it was wonderful to see the Prince of Wales today.

“It was particularly special that he got the opportunity to speak to some of our staff here ahead of International Nurses’ Day tomorrow.”
