The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge recently celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary by sharing images of themselves and writing kind words that were shared on social media to millions of fans. Kate’s photography skills landed her a number one spot for her book ‘Hold Still’ which captured the mood of the nation during the 2020 coronavirus pandemic. And, her uncle, Gary Goldsmith has also supported Kate by lashing out at her sister-in-law Meghan Markle for “throwing Kate under the bus,” during her interview with Oprah Winfrey. But Kate’s happiness and success could not have been foreseen by her mother, Carole, a decade ago.
According to royal author Katie Nicholl, in 2009, prior to the couple’s engagement, Carole was anxious about her daughter’s relationship and wondered when the prince would make an honest woman of Kate.
It was also a period where Kate was being mocked by the media who called her “waity Katie” because she had been dating William since 2001.
Ms Nicholl said: “Perhaps it was the constant references to Waity Katie which got to William.
“Possibly it was the words of his soon-to-be mother-in-law which rang in the prince’s ears.
“Before Christmas 2009, Carole Middleton had anxiously asked him when he planned to make an honest woman of her daughter.”
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge met while studying at university.
Prior to meeting one another, Kate is said to have had a crush on the young prince and had eerily envisioned a relationship with him.
William assured Carole that he and Kate “would be married,” but “he needed to complete his military training”.

In 2009, was promoted to Flight Lieutenant and was learning how to become a helicopter pilot.
He trained with the RAF’s Search & Rescue Force and, in 2010, William graduated from a number of training courses which included the Defence Helicopter School RAF in Shawbury and the Search and Rescue Training at the RAF Valley in Anglesey.
Willam proposed to Kate on November 6, 2010, and the couple got married on April 29 the following year.
Despite the couple dating for eight years and the pressure from the media, royal author Camilla Tominey believes that the Middletons remained dignified throughout which would have been highly appreciated by the Firm.
In Amazon Prime documentary ‘William and Kate: into the Future,’ Ms Tominey said: “We have not had one boyfriend come out of the woodwork and we have had nothing from the Middletons.
“That has got to have earned them huge favours – not just with Princes Harry and William who value loyalty and discretion over everything – but also with the Queen and Prince Charles, who again does not want anyone speaking out of turn.”
