Princess Charlene has recently returned to Monaco after spending much of the year in South Africa. Charlene originally went there for a royal visit, before contracting an infection that led to her being admitted to hospital in South Africa for treatment for an ear, nose, and throat infection.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Monegasque court said: “Their Serene Highnesses agreed together that a period of calm and rest was necessary for the good recovery of the health of Princess Charlene.”

“Charlene is said to be recovering from “a state of deep general fatigue” and details.”

“The Palace added that “the place of convalescence of the Princess will remain strictly confidential.”

“As soon as her health allows it, it will be with joy that the Princess will once again share moments of conviviality with the Monegasques”.

Her stay in South Africa sparked speculation about a potential rift inside the royal couple, a claim the family vehemently denied.
