The Conservative backbencher told LBC he is in favour of COVID-19 temperature testing at airports and labelled the UK Government’s approach to quarantine as very clunky and black and white. The former Brexit Secretary added that whilst there is not a silver bullet for the COVID-19 crisis there may be other solutions.
Mr Davis said: “The Government are saying that there are no silver bullets.
“There are no silver bullets but lead ones work sometimes.
“This is a game of numbers, you want to catch as many as you can.
“If somebody tests positive when they arrive at an airport then it’d be reasonable to quarantine everybody who is on that aircraft, everyone on that aircraft.

“There are a whole variety of things you can do.
“Unfortunately the Government appears to be very clunky and black and white in the way it’s approached it.”
Yesterday the World Health Organisation’s Special Envoy stated that Boris Johnson has made the right decision to impose travel restrictions on Spain.
Professor David Nabarro also told LBC’s Tom Swarbrick there will be a resurgence of COVID-19 cases across Europe.
Mr Swarbrick said regarding the Prime Minister’s decision to impose travel restrictions on Spain: “Has Boris Johnson made the right call here based on the available information?”
The WHO Special Envoy replied: “Certainly, this is a very difficult time all over Europe because there are going to be resurgences of this virus.
“We know that, we don’t know where they’re going to come from but we do know that they have the potential to build up super-fast.
“Certainly, he had to do something, I am personally glad I am not having to make these decisions.”

The LBC host asked: “Do you think that he is right to say that we are potentially seeing the start of a second wave in Europe?”
Professor Nabarro responded: “I think so, actually I have never liked the term wave to describe this virus and the disease it causes, I prefer to talk about spikes.
“You get spikes of disease coming really quickly, often they catch you unawares and that’s because the virus hasn’t gone away.
“In our brilliant lockdowns that we have done, the British one in particular, we have seen cases drop but as soon as people move around again the spikes will come.
“Spikes are here and there are going to be a lot of them in the coming weeks or months.”
