A car covered in a green sheet has also been spotted in the sealed St Helen’s road. The cordon is at the junction of Jubits Lane and Walkers Lane in the Merseyside town. Police cars are in attendance and a force helicopter has been circling overhead.

Liverpool Echo reporter Aaron Curran spoke to local residents, one said: “It’s horrible, you don’t want to hear of anyone getting hurt.

“I’ve never seen so many people on this street.”

Mr Curran reported that another resident heard, “two women screaming” at around 8am this morning.

Another resident describing the parked vehicle is reported to have seen “blood all over the floor”.
