Did Prince Andrew stay at Epstein’s New York House?

Prince Andrew allegedly stayed at paedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s home at a time when he is accused of having sex with a trafficked teenager, according to reports.

The Duke of York said during his ‘car crash’ interview that he did not stay at the convicted sex offender’s New York town house during a three-day trip in April 2001.

Virginia Giuffre – formerly Roberts – claims Prince Andrew slept with her for a second time during his US visit, when she was a minor under US law and allegedly being trafficked by Epstein.

BBC Newsnight broadcaster Emily Maitlis grilled Prince Andrew on the allegations and said witness, Johanna Sjoberg, had seen him visit the Manhattan home that month.

Andrew replied: ‘I probably did… One of the weird things is that I was staying – because of what I was doing – I was staying with the consul general which is further down the street on fifth.

‘So, I wasn’t staying there. I might have visited but no… definitely didn’t, definitely, definitely, no, no activity.’

According to the Daily Mail, ‘well-placed sources’ claim the duke and a Scotland Yard bodyguard did spend the final night of the US trip at Epstein’s £60 million home to ‘save taxpayers’ money’.

However, the sources insisted neither Mrs Giuffre, Epstein, nor his girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell – who is in custody facing child sex trafficking charges – were at the home at the time.

An official itinerary seen by the paper, reportedly reveals Andrew spent the first night at the residence of the British consul general in New York, before flying to Boston to stay the night there.

He ended the trip back in New York where he slept at a ‘private address’, which sources have allegedly claimed was Epstein’s Manhattan home near Central Park.

The duke also had ‘private time’ scheduled into his trip on April 11 – the day he returned to New York after the Boston trip.

But neither he, nor reportedly his two Scotland Yard bodyguards, have been able to explain what he did during this time period. Mrs Giuffre and another victim of Epstein’s claim they met up with Prince Andrew.

Mrs Giuffre alleges she was forced into sex with the duke when she was being trafficked on three occasions in 2001 – the first being at Maxwell’s home in Fitzrovia, London.

Prince Andrew has vehemently denied any form of sexual contact or relationship with Mrs Giuffre, now 35.

The duke famously explained the reason he could not have had sex with Mrs Giuffre on the night in question because he was at daughter Beatrice’s birthday party at Pizza Express in Woking.

But Princess Beatrice reportedly said she has ‘absolutely no recollection’ of the birthday party which her father claimed to have attended on March 10, 2001.

The family who hosted the event confirmed she had attended but had no memory of the duke of York being there.

His family diary said he had a home manicure booked on the afternoon he claimed to drop his then 12-year-old daughter off at the restaurant, according to the Daily Mail.

Mrs Giuffre maintains she danced with Prince Andrew in Tramp nightclub in Mayfair before having sex at Maxwell’s house that night.

The Duke says he doesn’t recall meeting his accuser, despite a widely publicised photo of him with his arm wrapped around her waist. Mrs Giuffre said this was taken after their night out together back at Maxwell’s home.

A spokesman for Prince Andrew said: ‘It would not be appropriate to comment on any of these matters.’

Epstein was convicted and jailed in 2008 for procuring an underage girl for prostitution.

He then killed himself in August last year while in a New York prison awaiting trial over fresh sex trafficking charges.
