The photographer who took portrait snaps for TIME magazine of Prince Harry, 37, and Meghan Markle, 40, has a remarkable connection to the late Prince Philip. Pari Bukovic, who is employed by The New Yorker, told his followers on Instagram about the time he snapped the Duke of Edinburgh as a child when Prince Philip made a trip to the photographer’s hometown of Istanbul in Turkey.
Posting the photo taken of Philip in 1992, Mr Bukovic wrote: “When I turned 8 years old, recognizing a passion in me, my dad gifted me my first camera – a Russian Zenit.
“Since then he has archived my photographs through adolescence.
“4 months after I got this gift, Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh came to Istanbul on an environmental trip to visit with the Ecumenical Patriarchate Bartholomew I.
“My dad got us access to the service and this is where I took these 2 photographs, my first ever of someone influential.

“This experience instilled in me the idea that a kid can create and dreams can become reality. We gifted this photo to the Ecumenical Patriarchate which eventually made its way to Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh as a memory from his visit.
“I’m thankful for this life altering experience that my dad made possible.
“Rest In Peace Prince Philip.”
The Duke of Edinburgh passed away in April aged 99.
The photoshoot followed on from the announcement that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had been named in TIME’s top 100 most influential individuals in 2021.
According to The Mirror, Mr Dukovic is a well-established photographer who even worked with the 44th US President Barack Obama.
But the photoshoot had yet one more link to a beloved deceased Royal.
The Duchess of Sussex had a Cartier Tank Francaise watch strapped around her left wrist.
