The US presenter and comedian, 63, joked with her friend, the Duchess of Sussex, 40, on ‘The Ellen Show’ on CBS on Thursday. Meghan’s conversation with the star is her first TV interview since her and Harry’s explosive two-hour sit-down chat with Oprah Winfrey in March. During the programme, Meghan, who was an actress in US legal drama, ‘Suits’ reminisced with Ellen about her acting career.

The Duchess explained how she used to come for auditions at Warner Bros. Studios, where ‘The Ellen Show’ is filmed.

The studios in the Burbank area of Los Angeles, California, are close to where Meghan was born and raised.

After her and Harry’s fairytale wedding three years ago, the pair stepped down from their royal roles last year.

They left the UK for North America and eventually settled in Montecito, a couple of hours’ drive from LA.

Before marrying Harry, another of Meghan’s on-screen roles had been as a model on ‘Deal or No Deal’ from 2006 to 2007.

The Duchess had appeared on the US version of the game show in which contestants eliminate amounts of money, ranging from $.01 to $1,000,000.

In 2017, Ellen made light of Meghan’s stint on the programme shortly after she and Harry became engaged.

She said: “Her name is Meghan Markle, she’s from Los Angeles, she’s an actress, she’s been on ‘General Hospital’, she’s been on ‘CSI New York’.

“And this is true – she was once the holder of case 24 on ‘Deal or No Deal’.”

The audience could be heard laughing before Ellen joked that the Duke might have been better off choosing one of the other models on the programme.

She said: “Which means if Harry had picked the other model could have gotten $1 million. So, darn it.”

Meghan and Ellen have been friends for almost a decade after they both met in LA back in 2012.

The pair bonded over their shared love of dogs after they met by chance at the same dog shelter in the city.

As part of her appearance on ‘The Ellen Show’, Meghan took part in one of the host’s trademark pranks.

In a pre-recorded clip, the Duchess could be seen drinking from a baby bottle in front of members of the public.

With Ellen orchestrating the prank in Meghan’s ear, the Duchess could also be heard saying “I have healing powers” as she touched crystals at a market.

During Meghan’s interview with Ellen, she also opened up about a happy memory of her previous visits to Warner Bros. Studios for various auditions.

She said: “What was so nice is the security guards here would always say, ‘Break a leg, we hope you get it’.”

She added that her drive in to do ‘The Ellen Show’ was “very different” than when she used to visit the studios.

Meghan Markle’s interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show will be broadcast on ITV2 within a week of its US release.
