EuroMillions says the odds of picking the winning five numbers as well as the two Lucky Stars is one in 139.8million.

Matching five numbers and one star has odds of one in 6.99million. The approximate overall odds, however, of winning a prize in the EuroMillions are much more likely at one in 13.

A lot of people playing the EuroMillions pick a lucky dip to choose their numbers for them.

LottoLand advises that people should avoid popular numbers, like one to 31, as people tend to opt for their date of birth.

This means if these numbers do win, more people will have them and so the winning amount will be divided among more people.

They also suggest avoiding a sequence of numbers. One player recently took home a huge £170million on October 6 after winning the Jackpot.

Andy Carter, senior winners’ advisor at the National Lottery, said: “One incredibly lucky ticket holder has scooped tonight’s enormous £170million EuroMillions jackpot.

“They are now the UK’s biggest ever winner. Players all across the country are urged to check their tickets as soon as possible.

“It’s been a fantastic year for UK EuroMillions players with an amazing five jackpot wins.”
