Princess Charlene, 43, had spent 10 months in South Africa due to ill health and two weeks ago she made her return to the principality of Monaco. Her husband Prince Albert revealed on Friday that Charlene has been admitted to a “treatment facility” after it became “evident she was unwell” within hours of her return to Monaco.

The Zimbabwe-born princess had been recovering from a severe ear, nose and throat (ENT) infection in her native country.

Amid her health battle, she went without seeing her two children, six-year-old twins Princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques, as well as her husband Prince Albert II.

She missed her and Albert’s tenth wedding anniversary which occurred during her recovery.

On September 1, Charlene collapsed due to complications following one of several surgeries for her ENT infection.

It is claimed that as a result of her surgeries she was unable to eat for a considerable amount of the time she spent away from her family.

It is also claimed that the Princess is “exhausted” following surgeries that she has undergone over the last six months.

Page Six reports: “She has not been able to eat solid food in over six months because of all the surgeries she has since gone through.

“She has only been able to take in liquids through a straw, so she lost nearly half her body weight.”

Prince Albert has confirmed that the Princess is now dealing with “exhaustion, both emotional and physical”.

In an interview with People, Albert spoke about her recovery, noting that the Princess was suffering with “incredible fatigue”, and he also confirmed her eating suffered during her recovery.

He said: “Obviously there were consequences of her different surgeries and the procedures she underwent in the last few months.

“That certainly was a factor, but at this point, I prefer not to comment further.

“I can say she was suffering incredible fatigue. She hadn’t slept well in a number of days and she wasn’t eating at all well.

“She has lost a lot of weight, which made her vulnerable to other potential ailments. A cold or the flu or God help us, Covid.”

As a result of her illness, Charlene missed celebrations for Monaco National Day on Friday.

The event was one she was initially scheduled to attend, but a Palace statement noted she would join her family or Monegasque people for the occasion.

The announcement was followed with: “As soon as her health permits, the Princess looks forward to once again carrying out her Princely duties and spending time with the Monegasques.”

On Monaco National Day, her children were joined by their father on the balcony of Monaco and the twins held signs reading: “We miss you Mommy”.

Since the announcement that Charlene was admitted to a “treatment facility”, the comment section of her Instagram has been flooded with well-wishes for a speedy recovery.

These include @belleneve who wrote “Keeping you in prayers. Stay strong” and @mary0401k who wrote, “May God continue to bring healing”.
