The high-end department store in London’s Knightbridge is owned by the state of Qatar via its sovereign wealth fund, the Qatar Investment Authority. First founded in 1849, the store occupies a five-acre site and has 330 departments covering 1.1million sq ft. It is one of the largest and most famous department stores in Europe.
However, the famous store is not to everyone’s liking as numerous tourists have taken to social media to voice their opinions.
One person from Fall River in Massachusetts urged people to save themselves from the hassle and just go to Selfridges.
Daniel L said: “I love high-end shopping but hated this store.
“Save yourself the hassle and the clout and just got to Selfridges.”
While another America, Benjamin S from LA, commented: “I hated this department store.
“It was a super confusing maze and seems like a bunch of tiny over-priced luxury brand stores crammed into a large building.”
One anonymous customer from Des Plaines in Illinois added: “The girls who work in the YSL bag department section were dismissive and acted like we were defacing their grandmother’s tombstone every time we dared touch a handbag. Hard pass.”
Christina P from Baltimore wrote: “I will never step foot into this store again.
“I wanted to spend money here, I really did, but every single interaction with the personnel felt like a stab in the face so I finally gave up and walked out.
“I’ll stick with Marks and Spencers.”
While there were a few people who detested their time in the department store, others saw the wonder of the huge shop.
One person, Laurence T from Denver, described it as being like “Hogwarts for adults”.

They said: “Seriously, this place is like Hogwarts for adults!!
“As you enter and you go up the various escalators, you’re instantly taken aback by the magnificent Egyptian decor.”
While Jay S from Walnut Creek, in California, added: “The fudge here is to die for and the toy store (and any other store for that matter) is breathtaking.
“An entire experience in luxury and premier shopping.”
Rita V from Hudson had a mixed experience during her time at the store as she described the wealth and money is like “gluttony” but the chocolates were “delicious”.
She commented: “Take a deep breath and breathe in wealth and money like its gluttony.
“Everything about this place sweats money – but the chocolates are delicious and affordable, there’s a ‘bargain basement’ and the cafe is lovely.”
Elethia M from New York said: “You cannot visit London without making your way to Harrods!
“I walked through the store amazed and mystified like Macaulay Culkin when he visited FAO Schwarts in Home Alone.”
