Fire breaks out at flat block in west London as 40 firefighters tackle blaze

A fire has erupted on the fifth floor of a block of flats in west London.

Forty firefighters and six fire engines were scrambled to the blaze at the eight-storey Verulam House in Hammersmith.

The fire was put out by crews just after 2pm and there were no injuries, the London Fire Brigade (LFB) confirmed.  

‘Part of a flat on the fifth floor of an eight-storey block is alight,’ the LFB said.

‘The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers have taken 17 calls to the blaze.

‘The Brigade was called at 13.21. Fire crews from Chiswick, Fulham, North Kensington and Lambeth fire stations are at the scene.’
