In footage shared on Talk Radio, furious motorists could be seen dragging Insulate Britain activists out of the way after they sat on the road blocking cars from passing. The Met Police said 38 people have been arrested in connection with Insulate Britain protests so far on Monday, after routes at Hanger Lane, Wandsworth Bridge and Arnos Grove were blocked.
Shouts from the motorists can be heard in the footage, with a couple of people saying: “Just drive through them mate.
“Move out of the way!
“Get out of the f****ng road!
“Go, go, go!”
On Monday, a group of demonstrators sat down on the northbound A102 and glued themselves to the road.
This caused large queues to build up during rush hour.
Insulate Britain said around 50 people were involved in the demonstrations, which have also affected Wandsworth Bridge in southwest London.
It is the 11th such action by the group, which is demanding the government insulate 29 million homes by 2030.
The Government obtained a fresh injunction banning the group from obstructing traffic and access to motorways on Friday.
Police will be given powers to stop and search activists for “lock-on” equipment used to prevent them from being moved.
Ms Patel has previously said: “The right to protest is a fundamental principle of our democracy but we will not tolerate guerrilla tactics that obstruct people going about their day-to-day business.
“Whilst the Labour Party stand on the side of these so-called ‘activists’, the Conservative party will always back the law-abiding, hard-working majority of people in this country.”
The Metropolitan Police said it has arrested 38 people on suspicion of disrupting the highway
In another video shared on LBC news, a tearful woman was seen pleading with Insulate Britain protesters blocking the Blackwall Tunnel.
She said: “She’s in the ambulance, she’s going to the hospital in Canterbury, do you think I’m stupid?
“I need to go to the hospital, please let me pass. This isn’t okay… how can you be so selfish?”
It is not clear if the activists she spoke to let her through.
