After launching it 20 years ago in 2001, Princess Anne was back aboard HMS Albion last weekend for a special occasion. According to the official Instagram account run by the Firm, she spent the weekend on the military ship among its 325 crew members, dressed in the same navy jumpsuit as them except for her HRH title.

The Princess Royale was there to support navy sailors and royal marines who are currently taking part in Exercise Joint Warrior, a UK-led war exercise that takes place in spring and autumn each year.

The Instagram post, showing the Princess Royal in a Royal Navy uniform with one of the sailors has been liked by over 64,000 people at time of writing.

The post was captioned: “As Sponsor of HMS Albion, The Princess Royal spent the weekend onboard the ship to support the @royalnavy sailors and @royalmarines who are currently taking part in Exercise Joint Warrior, off the Scottish Coast.

“While onboard, The Princess visited the ship’s company across the vessel, from the galley to the engine room.”

Responding to the post, fans such as sa.lly4939 congratulated her on being “the hardest working royal.”

“We know how hard she works,” added keepingupwiththewindsorspod.

Others praised the Princess for being “amazing” and “extraordinary.”

“She should be next queen! She’s amazing,” commented Weezie379.

“Princess Anne is so cool,” said prince_charles_camill.

Royalty.crown added: “Such a fantastic hardworking and passionate woman! We love you Anne.”

With nearly 500 engagements in 2019, Anne is undoubtedly a hard worker.

She packs four or five engagements in a single day into her itinerary, which sometimes makes it hard for her team members.

“I make their lives more difficult in terms of the logistics, I’m afraid, but if I’m going to be in London, I don’t want to be hanging about,” she told Vanity Fair in an interview.

“A lot of stuff goes on here, so there’s a question of filling in the time.

“I’m fortunate that the program that I make up, is a direct result of being asked to do these things.

“It would be a pity if you didn’t try and do them.”

Although she celebrated her 70th birthday in 2020, she is confident that taking a step back from her royal journey is not for her.

“I don’t think retirement is quite the same [for me],” she told Vanity Fair.

“Most people would say we’re very lucky not to be in that situation because you wouldn’t want to just stop.

“It is, to a large extent, the choice of the organizations you’re involved with and whether they feel you’re still relevant.”
