Police have cordoned off a house while investigators search the surrounding area, and several police vans line Nelson Grove. An incident is said to have occurred in the early hours of this morning, with officers spotted arriving on the scene at around 9am.

It is currently unknown the nature of the incident, however details are expected from Essex Police shortly.

According to EssexLive, four forensic teams are currently searching the back garden of the property, as well as a car and the driveway. Eye-witnesses said that they had also seen officers entering the house.

Emergency services were described as swooping on the road – near the River Can and Admirals Park – at around 3am.

There are now three police vehicles at the scene, two of which are for forensics.

The residential street sits to the west of Chelmsford city centre, close to Rainsford Lane (A1016) and Rainsford Road (A1060).
