The royal style icon headed to Derry-Londonderry today with her husband Prince William to meet young people and hear how organisations are engaging across communities to promote positive relations. Kate has been pictured wearing a bright purple suit while talking with nursing students during a tour of the Ulster University Magee Campus.

It is their first time in this area of Northern Ireland, and last visited the country together in March 2019.

The Duchess was wearing a deep purple suit by one of her favourite designers, Emilia Wickstead, part of the Autumn/Winter 2021 collection.

She paired the suit with Emmy London purple pumps, Liv Thurlwell earrings and a Jaeger London bag – all of which the Duchess has worn numerous times before.

One of the Queen’s favourite colours is purple, and Her Majesty regularly wears the colour on royal engagements.

Purple is a colour deeply rooted in royal history and has long been associated with monarchies.

Back in the day, purple fabric was incredibly expensive. Hence, only rulers and could afford it.

The colour purple was so precious to Queen Elizabeth I that the Tudor ruler banned anyone other than close royal family members from wearing it.

The Duchess of Cambridge has been lauded recently for her fashion choices.

Kate stepped out alongside her husband Prince William and the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall for the premiere of the new James Bond film, No Time To Die, this week.

She wowed crowds with her outstanding dress choice, a sparkling gold floor-length gown by Jenny Packham.

The dress included a sheer embellished overlay, and the duchess paired it with classic nude pumps by Aquazzura and matching gold statement earrings.

On their Instagram, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shared a photo of themselves alongside William’s father Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall.

They wrote: “Wonderful to see @007 back on our big screens! No Time To Die is the 25th Bond film and Daniel Craig’s last after 15 years in the role.

“It showcases the inspirational work of actors, musicians, directors, cinematographers and all those involved in making the film so special.

“Tonight’s world premiere will benefit charities supporting serving and former members of the three intelligence agencies: the Secret Intelligence Service, the Security Service, and @gchq.”

The Duchess is known to go glam for special occasions, like when she wore a gold-embroidered Alexander McQueen gown to the 2020 BAFTAs.

Kate has remained busy since returning to royal duties after her summer holiday.

Last week, the Duchess of Cambridge stepped out for two separate events: a visit to Cumbria to meet with Royal Air Force Air Cadets and a friendly tennis match with US Open Champion Emma Raducanu.
