The Duke of York is currently embroiled in a civil court case brought against him by one of Jeffrey Epstein’s victims. Andrew has vehemently denied all of the accusations made against him but they have seriously marred his reputation.
Following a disastrous interview with the BBC in 2019, Prince Andrew stepped down from Royal duties.
However, it is believed Andrew asked Queen Elizabeth II to be allowed to temporarily return as a senior royal following the death of his father Prince Philip.
But his older brother, and heir to the throne, Prince Charles is thought to be “adamant” there is no way back for the Duke of York.
Now, Royal expert of the Daily Mirror, Russell Myers, has argued the “isolated” Duke is the only person who believes he can return to Royal duties.
Speaking to ITV’s Lorraine, he said: “I think he is the only person in the entire world at the moment who is clinging to the aspect that he could return.”
Mr Myers continued: “Prince William will obviously be taking over one day.
“I think we’ve seen him really come to the fore in his new role of being trusted lieutenant of the Queen and Charles.
“Not only does he think he is a threat but what really gets him, the source said, is his sense of entitlement and the way he has handled himself throughout this saga, he is no fan of his uncle Andrew.
“That says a lot about the relationship between them and he wants to sort this business before he damages the monarchy even further.”
Before concluding, the Royal expert added: “It does seem they’re closing ranks together on him and he’s become quite isolated.”
Virginia Giuffre has issued a US civil case against Prince Andrew.
She has accused him of sexually abusing her two decades ago, an allegation which Andrew denies.

Ms Giuffre has also accused convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein of abuse.
On Monday, it was revealed the Metropolitan Police will be taking “no further action” into allegations said to have been committed in London in 2001.
Scotland Yard said they conducted two reviews of recent material into claims.
After these reviews, the police have now decided to drop their investigation.
The Metropolitan Police said they would still be liaising with other law enforcement agencies that are still investigating Jeffrey Epstein.
However, the Met has not given any details of who these agencies are.
In a statement, Scotland Yard said: “The Metropolitan Police Service continues to liaise with other law enforcement agencies who lead the investigation into matters related to Jeffrey Epstein.
“As a matter of procedure, MPS officers reviewed a document released in August 2021 as part of a US civil action.
“This review has concluded and we are taking no further action.
“We also reviewed information passed to us by a media organisation in June 2021.
“This review is complete and no further action will be taken.”
