GB News host Dan Wootton argued that Prince William had made a mistake by criticising the ongoing space race between private companies. Prince William recently sat down with BBC’s Adam Fleming and reflected on climate change and the future of the world. In this interview, the Duke insisted greater focus should be on protecting this planet rather than space exploration.

Mr Wootton argued the British public did not need Prince William to become like his father Prince Charles on climate change.

Prince Charles has long cultivated a reputation of being deeply concerned about climate change from an early age.

Mr Hootton said: “I am going to say something which in some quarters will be unpopular.

“I am known to be, on the whole, very supportive of the Cambridges.

“But I think this is a mistake, I don’t think it is what Prince William should be doing.

“I think the man has been impeccable through his entire career at staying out of thorny political issues.

“I think the last thing that the Royal Family needs and that Britain needs is a Prince Charles Mark 2.

“I think this is a slippery slope.”

Mr Wootton added that Prince William has so far been able to strike a good balance on talking about issues he cares about and fulfilling his royal role.

He closed by saying: “Prince William had been doing so well.

“He has been so pro-environment without being anti-things.

“I think that is what we need because it doesn’t annoy people like me.”

During the interview, Prince William made multiple warnings regarding the future of the Earth and of future generations.

He said: “Now I’ve got children as well and speaking to other parents you start to see the world differently.

“I want the things that I’ve enjoyed – the outdoor life, nature, the environment, I want that to be there for my children, and not just my children but everyone else’s children.

“I want to use my little bit of influence/profile to highlight incredible people doing incredible things and will genuinely help fix some of these problems.”
