Joan Collins HOWLS with laughter over Meghan Markle’s film ambition

Meghan Markle felt ‘isolated’ after her mother left for LA says expert

Former Dynasty star Joan was spotted by paparazzi coming out of dinner in Los Angeles with her husband Percy Gibson when she was asked for her thoughts on Meghan Markle’s search for a blockbuster film deal. The actress was seen to visibly laugh at the question before proclaiming: “You’ve gotta be joking!”

Joan worked in the entertainment industry since the age of nine, and trained at RADA before signing a contract with 20th Century Fox.

She is best known for playing the role of scheming Alexis Carrington in the 1980’s soap opera Dynasty.

Social media erupted following the exchange posted onto YouTube with a flurry of remarks from users.

One said: “Got to love Joan.”

Another replied, “Hollywood thinks Meghan is a joke.”

A third exclaimed: “Meghan laughing stock of Hollywood.”

Joan’s comments came after The Sun reported in 2020 that Meghan wanted her agent to bag her a “superhero role in a Hollywood blockbuster film”.

Her agent, Nick Collins, was said to be busily trying to secure her an offer.

A source said: “He has said she wants her return to acting to be part of an ensemble cast in something like a superhero film.

“He’s actively seeking such a movie for her. He’s saying she is available and open to the best offers.

“Meghan is planning a series of meetings in Hollywood. She has already done the voiceover for Disney and now the word is out that she’s looking for a superhero film, as a voiceover or even on screen.

“She knows she can’t carry a film as an actress. People won’t be able to get past the fact she’s Meghan Markle.

“But she’s determined to act again and she thinks a big, ensemble film is the way to go… something that pays big but which doesn’t put her front and centre.”

In 2019, Prince Harry was filmed appearing to lay the groundwork for her work with Disney, at the London premiere of the Lion King.

The Duke, 38, pointed to his wife and said in hushed tones: “You do know she does voiceovers?”

Mr Iger, looking surprised, replies “ah I did not know that”, before Harry continues “you seem surprised, she’s really interested”.

The Disney bigwig said: “We’d love to try. That’s a great idea.”
