Joe Biden 'preparing to announce re-election bid on Tuesday'

President Joe Biden is reportedly gearing up to announce his reelection campaign on Tuesday.

Biden and his team are putting the finishing touches on plans to release a video for him to officially launch his reelection bid, three people with knowledge on the matter told the Washington Post on Thursday.

The president and his aides are aiming to unveil the video on April 25, which marks the four-year anniversary of when he launched his 2020 campaign, the sources said. They warned that the Biden’s announcement could, however, get delayed.

On Thursday, the White House declined to comment on the report.

‘What I will say is that any announcement or anything that is related to 2024 certainly will not come from here,’ said White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, references rules barring government agencies from engaging in campaign activity while on the job.

Biden has for months indicated that he intends to pursue a second term.

Most recently at the White House Easter Egg Roll last week, Biden told NBC’s Today show co-host Al Roker: ‘I plan on running, Al. But we’re not ready to announce yet.’
