Joe Biden says airlines charging for more legroom is 'unfair to people of color'

President Joe Biden said airlines that charge for extra legroom are being ‘unfair’ to people of color and vowed to crack down on ‘junk fees’

Biden identified the added cost of a roomier plane seat with junk fees in a speech about fighting inflation and lowering costs for American families.

‘Some airlines if you want six more inches between you and the seat in front, you pay more money, but you don’t know it until you purchase your ticket,’ Biden said from the White House on Wednesday.

‘Look folks, these are junk fees that are unfair and they hit marginalized Americans the hardest, especially low income folks and people of color.’

Biden added that such fees benefit big corporations instead of consumers and working families.

‘That changes now,’ he said.

But some conservatives mocked Biden for appearing to make legroom fees a race issue.

Former WWE wrestler Glenn Jacobs, now the Republican mayor of Knox County, Tennessee, tweeted: ‘I have long felt that airline seating is extraordinarily unfair to oversized people such as myself and warrants Federal intervention.
