Royal children are not granted special permission to miss school on their birthdays, but George, Charlotte and Louis are in luck as their birth dates this year have all landed on days where they aren’t required to attend school. Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis won’t go to school on their birthdays in 2022 as their schools will be shut.

Kate and William’s eldest child, Prince George, eight, is used to having his birthday at home as it falls outside of term time almost every year on July 22.

However, Princess Charlotte, six, and three-year-old Louis usually have to put their uniforms on and head to class on their special day.

Born on May 2, Princess Charlotte’s birthday this year happens to fall on a bank holiday in 2022.

The early May Bank holiday is on a different date each year, but means most people in the UK will be off work and schools are closed for the day.

Kate and William’s youngest child, Prince Louis, was born on April 23, which is also St George’s Day.

While St George’s Day is not an official public holiday and schools aren’t usually closed, this year it falls on a Saturday, meaning Louis can enjoy his fourth birthday at home with his family.

Prince William is set to turn 40 on June 21 and, unlucky for William, it falls on a Tuesday in 2022.

However, all of the UK is set to enjoy an extra bank holiday this year, as we come together to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Both Thursday, June 2 and Friday, June 3, will be bank holidays this year, giving Brits a four-day weekend in the summer.

Queen Elizabeth II will be celebrating 70 years on the throne, making her the first ever British monarch to do so.

Four days of events and activities will take place to mark the Queen’s historic achievement.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte both attend Thomas’s Battersea school in south-west London, while three year old Louis is currently a pupil at Willcocks Nursery School in Kensington, not far from Kensington Palace.
