Chloe Savage, the dressmaker who did the embroidery work on Kate’s special wedding dress has shared new details about the Duchess of Cambridge, before she tied the knot with Prince William. Ms Savage shared the comments just before the 10 year anniversary of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s marriage on April 29.
Speaking to Insider, Ms Savage shared Kate’s character before walking down the aisle.
“She’s so incredibly normal! She really is!” said Ms Savage.
She added: “Where I live in Bristol isn’t far from Prince Charles’ estate, and he has a reputation for being uppity. But Kate is so normal
Reminiscing about how she landed the crucial role as Kate’s dressmaker, she said was at the Royal School of Needlework in the UK when she received a cryptic email simply asking for embroidery help on a “big project”.
Only after accepting did Ms Savage realise she’d just signed onto a career defining project.
As part of the project, she worked on Kate’s shoes, gown and even a blue and white silk garter.
Ms Savage said the dress was “divine” and fit the Duchess “beautifully”.
She added that Kate’s “normal upbringing” may be one way the Duchess remains grounded amidst the chaos of royal life.
Ms Savage said: “She’s dealt with people and been to parties without a full entourage of security guards
“Charles and the boys’ upbringing was, of course, much more secured in that sense.
“They weren’t going to be found in the local pub.”
The dress created by Ms Savage was seen by an estimated 72 million people on YouTube.
