Kate Middleton routine: The key sign homely Duchess loves a Saturday night in with family

Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, 37, is not someone you could easily imagine vegging out in front of the telly but Prince William recently let slip the mum-of-three loves one particular laid-back Saturday night activity. Prince William was at a charity gala for Centre Point on Wednesday night when he revealed both his wife Kate and mother-in-law Carole Middleton were huge fans of Strictly Come Dancing.

Speaking to Strictly judge Shirley Ballas and Strictly host Claudia Winkleman, Wills said Kate is a “huge fan”.

Wills admitted to having watched it with Kate only a handful of times before adding that his mother-in-law Carole Middleton loves it.

He said: “I have watched the show [Strictly] a couple of times. Catherine is a huge fan and my mother-in-law loves it.”

The Prince then continued to joke with the Strictly stars about what changes he would like to see them make to the show.

  • The reason Kate Middleton’s stunning sapphire ring branded ‘common’

He said: “Why does Claudia never dance?!”

Claudia then cheekily replied: “I’m too creaky!”

So it seems Kate favours a cosy night in watching Strictly with her mum over a night out on the town.

While the stylish Duchess always looks the part whenever she is out in public, her down to earth habits are a hit with fans.

During half-term she was spotted shopping for Halloween treats with Prince George and Princess Charlotte in Sainsbury’s.

And last week royal watchers were delighted to hear she had attended a meet and greet for new parents and George and Charlotte’s school, St Thomas’s Battersea.

The parents’ social was held at a pub in Chelsea where Kate is reported to have slipped in through a secret side door.

Another of Kate’s level-headed habits is to regularly buy outfits from high street brands.

  • Prince Harry’s ‘tense stance’ hints at deep rift with William

While the Duchess has her fair share of expensive clothing she isn’t afraid to wear costume jewellery or shop at affordable stores.

Kate seems comfortable in front of the camera and is herself a gifted photographer but apparently the Duchess does not enjoy having her picture taken.

Speaking to Vanity Fair a royal correspondent explained: “Kate and William, in particular, are known for purposefully not looking at a fixed point when having their picture taken – making it hard for photographers to get good images of them.”

The pair reportedly reduce the amount of media attention they receive by using this technique.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were reunited with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in public at Remembrance events over the weekend.

As future King and Queen Consort, Kate and Wills were stationed at opposite sides of the balcony to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday.

The reunion came weeks after Prince Harry had confronted rumours of a rift between him and Wills saying they were on “different paths.”

Kate and Wills are expected to spend Christmas with the Queen at Sandringham this year while Meghan and Harry will spend it in America with the Duchess’s mother Doria Ragland.

Sandringham is just a stone’s throw away from the Cambridge’s rural pad Anmer Hall which is where they will spend most of the festive season.
