Dr Rebecca Chicot has analysed the Duchess of Cambridge’s behaviour around her kids and claims to have deciphered a method Kate uses to keep them calm in public. Dr Chicot, a child development and parenting expert, told of the challenges Kate has faced as a parent to royal blood.

“It’s very hard for any parent to have to parent in public,” Dr Chicot told The Sun.

“She seems to be good at making warm contact ‘touch to the head’ which is a nice connection.”

Kate has often been seen using this method, to calm down her three children or getting them to behave.

She reportedly used this method during sister Pippa Middleton’s 2017 wedding when Prince George, six, started acting out.

The mum-of-three has opened up about the difficulties parents face. When asked about how she manages temper tantrums, Kate said: “Yes, that’s a hard one. I’d also like to ask the experts myself.”

One other trick Kate uses is physically lowering herself to see eye-to-eye with her children.

“She gets down to their level to talk to them but let’s them be children,” said Dr Chicot.

“She has a lovely balance of sensitivity and gentle boundaries.

“She doesn’t expect them to behave like little adults and knows that children go through perfectly natural stages like tantrums.”

This can be evidenced by a photo of Princess Charlotte during the King’s Cup regatta in 2019, where Kate tried to encourage the young princess to wave to the crowds, but she instead stuck her tongue out at them.

Kate simply laughed it off and the crowd didn’t seem to mind either. In fact, they loved it.

One parent reacted to the clip saying: “Just a normal child! You can’t control their every move. Kate’s response was fantastic!”

Dr Chicot also commented on an incident in Hamburg, also involving Princess Charlotte

Dr Chicot said: “When Charlotte was upset she got down to talk to her quietly.

“This shows firmness and warmth – neither cajoling or getting angry.”
