Kate was pictured carrying out an engagement at a school in east London just days after Meghan sensationally claimed the future Queen left her in tears in the lead up to her 2018 royal wedding to Prince Harry, despite initial reports saying the opposite happened. But royal expert Katie Nicholl said the 39-year-old looked like she was “hurt and saddened” during the school visit, suggesting the news the row had been made public again had deeply affected her. She also noted Kate did not say anything about it as she “is not in a position to respond”.
She told OK!: “This has been a very hard few days for Kate, but she turned up and committed to her work and duty last week.
“People did notice that she appeared downcast and subdued. Behind closed doors she has been saddened, disappointed and hurt.
“From what I hear, there are different versions of the bridesmaid story, not just the one Meghan discussed.
“Kate felt it was all sorted, so to have it brought up again was mortifying.
“Kate is not in a position to respond and Meghan and Harry know that.
“Kate has never wanted any suggestion of a rift with Meghan to come out in the press, so for this story to be circulating is very hard. Kate is so discreet and respects her personal life.
“You never hear about her falling out with anyone because she is very careful with how she treats others.
“Kate and William both feel they were hugely welcoming to Meghan and Harry. Any accusations against the monarchy are accusations against their family.
“It’s hurtful and they feel let down. Obviously, they still love Harry and Meghan, but this interview has ruffled feathers.”
Oprah asked about a tabloid story that claimed that Meghan made Kate cry just before her wedding over a row about bridesmaid dresses.
But Meghan said she was actually the one who was reduced to tears.
She told Oprah: “A few days before the wedding, she was upset about something pertaining—yes, the issue was correct about flower girl dresses.

“It made me cry and it really hurt my feelings.
“I thought in the context of everything else that was going on in those days leading to the wedding that it didn’t make sense to not be just doing what everyone else was doing, which was try to be supportive, knowing what was going on with my dad and whatnot.”
Kate has not personally spoken about the claims by Meghan.
But when asked by a reporter about the interview last week, Prince William said he was planning to speak to his brother.
He said: “No I haven’t spoken to him yet but I will do.”
Days after the bombshell interview, the Queen released a statement, which said: “The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.
“The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning.
“While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.
“Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much-loved family members.”
