The Princess of Wales has worn some pretty extravagant fashion pieces since joining the royal ranks through her marriage to Prince William in 2011. Although, according to royal expert Neil Sean, Kate is now taking on a new, and sensitive, approach to her wardrobe, particularly amid the current cost-of-living crisis.

Speaking on his YouTube Channel, Neil Sean’s Daily News Headlines, Mr Sean said: “We’re going to see Catherine in more British high street wear.

“That is, of course, so that people will be able to buy exactly from the shops, like LK Bennett, places like that that have seemingly become a royal favourite.”

He added: “Also, looking into this brand-new, it’s not really a phenomenon but it’s new this time around, of hiring and sending and sending back clothes, obviously privately.

“So that whatever she wears isn’t at a cost, a huge cost, to the British monarchy, or indeed the taxpayer.

“I think this is a really forward-thinking 21st-century idea.”

He added: “I do think this makes Catherine very much in tune with the public right now.

“[And] more importantly, gives an assistance to those British brands that truly need it.”

The royal expert continued: “As I often say, you couldn’t possibly imagine this a few years back, with our wonderful late monarch.

“You know, can you imagine the catalogue woman coming around for the extra money on a Friday night for the frock they borrowed for the Royal Variety Show?

“I’m jesting, you know what I’m saying.”

Speaking on the latest episode of the Daily Express’ Royal Round-Up, royal correspondent Richard Palmer also discussed Kate’s style choices and the possibility of an impact from the cost-of-living crisis.

He added that she is likely to “mix and match” with high street and higher-end brands.

He stated: “On some occasions, she’ll wear a £35-pound dress and then occasions where she’ll wear a £3,000 dress.”

Kate is also reported to have stopped aides from releasing details about her fashion choices at certain events in light of the current crisis.

Daily Express’s royal correspondent Richard Palmer told Royal Round Up: “I think they will on big [events] like when there’s a state banquet or things like that. Or, you know, an overseas visit.”

“I think the cost-of-living crisis may well be part of that as well.

“It’s not a good look, is it, to turn up to a food bank in a £3,000 coat.”
