Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge has been working behind closed doors to “form a rapprochement” between her husband Prince William and her brother-in-law Prince Harry. According to a royal expert, Kate was devastated at the family rift and has been trying to form amends, after Prince Harry publicly criticised the Royal Family during his interviews with Oprah. The two brothers have had a strained relationship since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced they would be stepping back from the Royal Family in 2020.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl said: “It has always been my understanding that behind-the-scenes, Kate has tried very hard to form a rapprochement and act as a peacemaker between William and Harry.

“She loves Harry, he said she is the sister that he never had.”

She continued: “She’s been heartbroken to see them fall out and I think she is one of the very few people, one of the few family members, who was actually able to push the brothers together which she did in a very subtle way.

The two brothers have been on difficult terms since Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle announced that they were stepping back from their roles as senior working royals, in a shock move that was dubbed Megxit by the British press.

Since then, Prince Harry has gone on to conduct a number of interviews in which he has publicly criticised his family.

During the couple’s 2-hour bombshell exclusive with Oprah Winfrey, they detailed their reasons for leaving the Royal Family and their disappointment at the institution.

Revelations included the Palace ignoring the couple’s pleas for mental health support, Meghan’s suicidal thoughts and the Royal Family denying their son Archie a title and security.

The most shocking claim was that an unnamed member of the Royal Family had voiced concerns over the skin colour of their unborn child.

Prince Harry also characterised his relationship with his brother as “space” and said that they were “on different paths”.

During his AppleTV+ series ‘The Me You Can’t See’, Harry spoke of his estranged relationship with Prince Charles and criticised his parenting skills. He also told Oprah that he felt “really let down” after it was revealed that the Prince of Wales had stopped accepting his calls.

The Duke of Sussex returned to London for the funeral of his grandfather Prince Philip, and displayed a united front with his brother and father.

Although Prince William, Kate and Prince Harry were all seen conversing outside St George’s Chapel in Windsor, reconciliatory talks behind closed doors were reportedly unproductive.

Prior to Prince Harry leaving the Royal Family, he enjoyed a close relationship with his brother and sister-in-law.

The trio launched the Heads Together campaign to promote mental health and were often together during engagements.

He has known Kate for nearly twenty years after she became Prince William’s girlfriend whilst they were at university. He later served as best man at their wedding.

The two brothers are next due to reunite on July 1 to unveil a statue dedicated towards their mother Princess Diana at Kensington Gardens.
