Lady Louise makes Edward and Sophie beam with pride in tribute to Philip

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh beamed with pride as they watched their daughter, Lady Louise, ride in a carriage at the Royal Windsor Horse Show. The young royal follows in the footsteps of her grandfather, Prince Philip, who was a keen carriage rider.

 

Sophie and Edward looked on with admiration as Lady Louise, 19, rode around Castle Arena in the grounds of Windsor Castle, Berkshire.

An annual fixture, Lady Louise’s attendance at the Royal Windsor Horse Show continues the royals’ long association with equestrian events.

The late Queen Elizabeth II was a lifelong horse lover while her late husband, Prince Philip, who was an enthusiastic carriage driver, as dramatised in the latest series of Netflix’s The Crown.

Lady Louise made her carriage riding debut in 2021 at the age of 17, unlike the late Duke of Edinburgh who took up the sport when he was 50.
